If you're planning a trip to Silver Dollar City, you might think that the only attractions worth visiting are the thrilling roller coasters that the park is famous for. However, if you’re not a fan of roller coasters, there are plenty of other things to see and do that don't involve stomach-churning drops and loops.
Here are some of the best things to do at Silver Dollar City besides riding roller coasters.
Non-Roller Coaster Rides
Just because you don't want to ride a roller coaster doesn't mean you can't enjoy some fun rides in the park. Silver Dollar City has plenty of other rides to try, like the water rides, such as the Mystic River Falls or American Plunge.
Or, you can check out the steam train ride, which takes you on a scenic tour of the park and offers a unique way to see the sights.
Homestead Ridge
Part of the charm of Silver Dollar City is its attention to detail. There are small touches like pioneer cabins and water wheels scattered throughout the park. Homestead Ridge is a great example that attention to detail. This area of the park recreates a pioneer village, complete with historic buildings and old-fashioned craft and trade demonstrations. Visitors can learn about the daily life of settlers in the Ozarks and get a sense of what it was like to live in the 1880’s.
Marvel Cave
If you're up for some adventure, take a tour of Marvel Cave, located underneath the Silver Dollar City grounds. This impressive limestone cave has been designated a National Natural Landmark, and there are guided tours that take visitors through underground chambers filled with fascinating rock formations and stunning mineral deposits.
Sample the food
Silver Dollar City is known for its delicious and varied cuisine, from the smoked meats in Rivertown Smokehouse to Fanny’s funnel cakes, you’ll find something for everyone. Check out the sampling pass to sample the seasonal offerings.
Shows and entertainment
Silver Dollar City offers an impressive lineup of live entertainment, from musical performances in the gazebo to shows in the Opera House. You can also catch street performances featuring musicians and other talented performers throughout the park.
Demonstrations
In addition to the shows, the park also offers a variety of demonstrations at attractions such as Hazel's Blown Glass, Brown's Candy, Phoebe Snapp's Taffy Shop, and the Blacksmith forge. Here, visitors can watch skilled artisans ply their trade and learn about the history and techniques behind their craft.
Shopping
Silver Dollar City has a wide variety of shops that offer everything from handmade crafts to clothing to souvenirs to toys. The park is especially known for its handmade pottery, which is produced and sold on-site.
We love to visit Brown's Candy Shop or grab some apple butter to take home at the end of the day. Take some time to browse, and you may find some unique treasures to take home with you!
Festivals and Events
Throughout the year, Silver Dollar City hosts a variety of festivals and events, from the Old Time Christmas celebration to the Bluegrass and BBQ Festival. These events offer additional entertainment, food, and activities, making a trip to Silver Dollar City unique each time you visit.
Our favorite festivals are the Harvest Fest and the Old Time Christmas celebration. Both festivals feature festive decorations throughout the park and plenty of seasonal food, and both festivals are can't-miss park events.
